What Can I Expect?

The Pharmacy Technician program provides instruction in how to assist the pharmacist in the packing and distribution of medication. Graduates can find employment in hospitals (private and government), nursing care facilities, private and chain drug stores, drug manufacturers, wholesale drug houses, and health maintenance organizations. At our pharmacy tech school in Miami, students will also study the professional and technical skills necessary for direct employment as a pharmacy technician.

Do I Need to be Certified?

A student must become a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Florida Board of Pharmacy before they can begin working in their field of training in the State of Florida. All employers will conduct a background check and drug screen for employment in the State of Florida.

Once you have completed our approved accredited pharmacy tech program at FVI School of Nursing and Technology –  Miami Campus, you can become certified by taking a certification exam that is approved by the State Board of Pharmacy in Florida. You can only take this exam once you have completed your training courses. To prepare for the certification, our pharmacy tech schools in Miramar and Miami offer 40 hours of preparation to ensure you are prepared!

Employment Opportunities

After completing the pharmacy tech program in Miami, you will open the doors to many employment opportunities in a multitude of settings such as:

  • Grocery Store Pharmacies
  • Hospital Pharmacies
  • Long-Term Care Pharmacies
  • Mail Order Pharmacies

Once you enter the workforce, you will assist pharmacists with compounding and distributing medications, helping them prepare mixtures for intravenous use and other services that may be required in that pharmacy setting. The pharmacy technician program at our school will allow you to work in a job position that will be very rewarding and constantly evolving. In addition, you will find that being a pharmacy technician will offer you a very stable, secure work environment.

You will be the contact between the patient, doctor, insurance company, and other medical professionals. Much like the pharmacist you visit at your local CVS or Walgreens, you will be the person who receives the prescription from patients and then verifies the prescription in order to prepare the medication. At our pharmacy technician school in South Florida, you will be able to choose classes that fit your schedule and have access to job placement upon completion.
